There’s something about this stage of pregnancy that feels especially worth documenting.
She was about seven months along, right in that window where everything feels full and present. This is her third and final pregnancy, and you could tell she was really taking it in. Not rushing through it, just being in it.
I’ve photographed her for more than ten years now. Her engagement, wedding, bridal boudoir, and over time, her growing family. This felt like a continuation of that, not a standalone moment.
The session itself was soft and calm from the start.
We photographed it in a bright, airy hotel in Chicago’s Gold Coast in the middle of the afternoon, when the light fills the room but still feels gentle. We kept things simple, moving between the bed and the windows, letting the sheer curtains add a bit of movement.
She was very connected to her body, which made everything feel easy. There wasn’t much need to direct. It was more about paying attention to how she naturally moved and letting that lead.
Her wardrobe followed that same rhythm. We started with a black set and a long lace robe, then moved into softer tones. Mauve, then white. Each look shifted the mood slightly, but everything stayed within that same quiet, romantic space.
What I loved most about this session is that it didn’t try to define what this moment should look like.
It wasn’t overly styled or sentimental. It simply felt like a woman in this phase of her life, comfortable in her body and letting it be seen that way.
And that’s really the point.
Pregnancy is one of many stages where a woman’s body is constantly changing, and all of it is worth documenting. Not just the milestones, but the quieter in-between moments too.

This kind of session is less about a milestone and more about how it felt to be in it. If that resonates with you, you can learn more about my boudoir sessions here.
