Last year, I photographed my first European wedding at the incredible Château De La Hulpe in Belgium, and it was LOVE.
But first, story time! Back in 2005, Cindy and I were randomly paired as college roommates at Augustana College. I was a slob. She was a neat freak. We didn’t kill each other and despite the odds, we became lifelong friends. Little did I know then that 16 years later I’d be flying all the way to Belgium to watch her marry the love of her life.
From the stunning castle setting at Château De La Hulpe to the gourmet dinner provided by the talented Choux De Bruxelles to the champagne FROM Champagne, France and a wedding cake that was literally on fire… Every moment was magic.
At this wedding, I had the pleasure of doubling up as wedding photographer and wedding guest, so I got to truly enjoy all the festivities while also spending time with one of my dearest friends. My favorite part of the evening was their dinner which lasted nearly 3 hours long. Each course was expertly crafted and came with a wine pairing. We enjoyed not one, not two but three different desserts, with my favorite being the fresh made-to-order heart-shaped Belgian waffles.
Congratulations my friends! Your wedding was without a doubt worth the wait.
The couple had to plan their wedding over and over again due to the pandemic, and I know they are so grateful for every single one of their vendors who made their wedding dreams come true.
