A Classic Chicago Wedding at The Ivy Room

They started the afternoon in Lincoln Park before heading downtown to The Ivy Room, where an indoor ceremony filled with candlelight, white flowers and greenery gave way to dinner, dancing and a room full of their favorite people. More than anything, the day was about being together, which made all of the little interactions happening around them just as meaningful to photograph as the bigger moments.
Carrie and Pat planned their Chicago wedding around something pretty simple: celebrating with their closest family and friends. They wanted the day to feel personal and relaxed, with plenty of time to actually enjoy the people they had brought together.

Carrie and Pat spent the beginning of the day in separate spaces at a private residence in Lincoln Park, surrounded by their families and wedding party. Carrie got ready upstairs with her sisters, mom and friends, while Pat spent the afternoon with his family and groomsmen in the library.
They met for their first look in the courtyard before everyone headed downtown, leaving plenty of time for wedding portraits together around the Ivy Room before guests began arriving.
Getting Ready in Lincoln park
Carrie and Pat held their ceremony inside The Ivy Room, surrounded by their closest family and friends. White flowers and greenery kept everything simple and classic, with candlelight lining the aisle and greenery framing the ceremony.
Their wedding party joined their families in the front rows rather than standing beside them, putting the focus squarely on Carrie and Pat while keeping everyone they loved close by.
The Ceremony at The Ivy Room
After cocktails downstairs, everyone gathered back upstairs for dinner and the reception. Carrie and Pat kept the formalities fairly simple: their first dance, parent dances, a welcome from Carrie's dad and toasts from their siblings before the rest of the evening opened up.
From there, the photographs became much more about the room itself: conversations between tables, hugs, reactions, people finding each other on the dance floor and Carrie and Pat moving through all of it. It was exactly the kind of celebration they had hoped for from the beginning: a really good party with the people closest to them.
