Winter engagement photos in Chicago can be absolutely lovely if you time it right!

After a week of nothing but snow and below zero temperatures, the sun returned to Chicago just in time for Elizabeth and Ashish’s engagement session. I tend to go into hibernation mode in the winter, and this session was a wonderful reminder at how beautiful this city is all year around. Chicago, your winters may be cold, but boy are you pretty.

Elizabeth and Ashish wanted a winter engagement photo session, so we crafted a plan tailored around just that. Elizabeth’s bright red coat was the perfect winter engagement session accessory. It was cozy and warm and she looked fabulous! The couple wanted at least one place where they didn’t have to be bundled up for winter, so we stopped into Proxi, their favorite neighborhood spot, for a few glasses of Prosecco. I mean, if there’s no bubbly, can the engagement session even happen?

We ended at everyone’s favorite Chicago skyline destination. I’ve photographed this sky hundreds of times, but this frozen view may be a new favorite. It looked as if Elizabeth and Ashish were standing on frozen Lake Michigan. Chicago showed up with the most beautiful sunset and I honestly couldn’t ask for any better.
