6 Dreamy Garden Wedding Venues in Chicago

If you know me, you know that I love an outdoor wedding. In fact, the more outdoor weddings in my life, the better. I love the feel of a garden wedding in the city. It exudes romance, but in a non-stuffy, easy, natural way. Because quite a few of you always ask about my favorite venues in the city, I thought I’d share a few of my top picks for outdoor wedding venues in the Chicagoland area.

1. Chicago Illuminating Company

I love this venue so much! Chicago Illuminating Company is a chic indoor/outdoor oasis nestled in the South Loop of Chicago. One of my sample albums highlights this venue and clients are always asking where to find it! The best part about the outdoor space is that it is covered with a modern, clear tent that keeps you dry in the chance of rainy weather, but also gives you the opportunity to dangle bistro lights and chandeliers over the dance floor. There’s so much that can be done with this space. I continue to obsess over it. There’s not many venues in the heart of the city where you can dance under the stars. If that’s up your alley, I highly recommend giving it a look.

2. Galleria Marchetti

Galleria Marchetti is probably the one venue in Chicago I’ve photographed more than any other over the years (Cafe Brauer is a close second!). This venue continues to get better and better every time. They now offer two great options for your wedding day: The Pavilion and La Pergola, both perfect for those garden wedding vibes. Galleria Marchetti main space features a beautiful tented atmosphere along with their outdoor garden for the ceremony and cocktails. And have you seen their new fire pits? Could be perfect for a roasted s’more dessert (my favorite)!

3. Chicago Botanic Gardens

It doesn’t get more beautiful than a wedding at Chicago Botanic Gardens. If you love English Walled Gardens and all things roses, this might be the perfect space for you. It’s the definition of romance. With it’s manicured gardens and abundance of greenery, Chicago Botanic Gardens is basically the creme de la creme of garden wedding venues in Chicago.

4. The Ivy Room

There’s no place in Chicago quite like the Ivy Room. This might be one of my favorite venues in the city and I can’t wait to shoot here again this September and November. The abundance of ivy in this charming little courtyard is unreal. Just wait until you see it for yourself. Plus, the level of service provided by the Ivy Room staff is unparalleled. I can’t express how amazing they are! They offer a fairly all-inclusive experience (similar to what you’d find at a hotel or ballroom), but with a one-of-a-kind ambience you can’t find anywhere else. And, PS, the food is still the best wedding food I’ve had to date.

5. Winnetka Community House

A whimsical walled garden wedding setting hidden along Chicago’s north shore? Yes, please! As I’ve established, I have a love for outdoor weddings and receptions. It’s not everyday I come across a wedding venue that allows for outdoor dinner and dancing, and Winnetka Community House offers just that. I mean, look how cute it is?!

Address: 620 Lincoln Ave, Winnetka, IL 60093

6. Morton Arboretum

Okay, if you guys follow me on Instagram, you know I have a soft spot for the Morton Arboretum. I’m pretty much there every week and am still not over how beautiful this place is. I’ve been running and walking their trails on a weekly basis for the last two years, so I think it’s safe to say that I know this place like the back of my hand. Yes, the gardens right off the visitor center are pretty, but the real beauty lies off the beaten path. Take the time to explore the grounds and you’ll know what I’m talking about. I love weddings here because of all the outdoor venue options and the woodsy portrait backdrops. It offers serenity and sunlight, and by the way, the food is amazing.
